Chinese New Year 2027 Inventory Calculator
Chinese factories stop for weeks around the holiday, then restart slowly. Enter one product's numbers to see the last day to place your pre-holiday order and how many units carry you until the first post-holiday shipment lands. Works for Vietnamese suppliers too: change the dates to theirs.
Projected stock
How the number is built
The pre-holiday order must leave the factory by the last ex-factory day, so it has to start production one production-time earlier. The next order can only start once the factory reopens and reaches full output, so the stock you buy now has to last until that later batch arrives, plus your safety buffer.

Questions importers ask
When is Chinese New Year 2027?
Chinese New Year 2027 falls on Saturday, February 6, 2027, the start of the Year of the Goat. The expected public holiday in mainland China runs February 5 to 12; the State Council usually publishes the official schedule in November.
When do Chinese factories close for Chinese New Year 2027?
Most factories wind down one to two weeks before the holiday. A common planning estimate for 2027 is a closure from about January 25 to February 15, followed by two to four weeks at reduced output while workers return. Every factory sets its own calendar, so confirm dates with your supplier.
What is the last day to place an order before Chinese New Year 2027?
Take your supplier's last ex-factory day and subtract the production time. With a last ex-factory day of January 22, 2027 and 25 days of production, the order has to be confirmed by December 28, 2026. The calculator on this page works this out for your own numbers.
How much inventory should I order before Chinese New Year?
Enough to last until the first post-holiday batch reaches your warehouse, plus safety stock. That window covers the shutdown, the ramp-up, a full production run and the sea transit, so for many importers it adds up to three or four months of sales.
Does this work for factories in Vietnam?
Yes. Vietnam's Tết falls on the same day in 2027 and factories close for a similar or longer period. Change the last ex-factory day and reopening date to your Vietnamese supplier's dates; the factory holiday calendar lists typical Tết dates.
Is the calculator free?
Yes. Planning one product at a time is free and needs no sign-up. A Pro version for many SKUs, Shopify sync and ready-to-send purchase orders is in development.
